#1: Incremental Progress
Imagine you're a sculptor, chipping away at a massive block of marble. Each tiny chip might seem insignificant, but over time, they reveal a masterpiece.
This is the essence of incremental progress.
By breaking your goals into bite-sized, manageable tasks, you can keep the momentum rolling. At the same time you’ll avoid the overwhelm and anxiety that comes with trying to tackle everything at once.
Reverse engineer it.
Breakdown the annual goal into quarters, then monthly, weekly and finally into manageable daily tasks. Wrap your head around the "1% rule"— making just a 1% improvement daily can lead to massive gains over time. Whether it's writing a single page of your novel or starting with just five push-ups a day, over time these small ‘chips’ will lead you to your masterpiece.
#2: Build Resilience through Setbacks
Setbacks are like plot twists in your epic life story. They will bring up frustrations and may leave a bitter taste in your mouth. These moments are essential and act as an opportunity for growth.
EAT YOUR HUMBLE PIE!!
Every time you stumble, you're given a chance to learn, adapt, and come back stronger. Each setback is also loaded with wisdom. By embracing your results as they are, you can objectively analyze what went “wrong,” and use this feedback to fuel your next attempt.
If you keep working with this growth mindset, you are not only gaining wisdom, you’re also strengthening your character.
#3 Keep Your Momentum: Celebrate small victories
Momentum is your best friend on the path to success. To keep it alive, celebrate every small victory like you've just won the Super Bowl. (Ok, maybe that’s a bit much but you feel me.)
Did you….
- finish a chapter of your book?
- meditated 4 days in a row?
- stick to your workout plan for a week?
You did?
Treat yourself to something nice!
(You didn’t? Go back and check out #2 ⬆️ and try again)
Do a little victory dance! Whatever it takes to keep your feel-good reward hormones circulating. These micro-celebrations fuel your incremental 1%.
More reason to celebrate — As you keep celebrating these little wins, you are creating a positive feedback loop that will eventually create a new mindset.
#4: Creating Your Personal Formula
Everyone is different. So the ingredients of your Flywheel will be uniquely yours.
To create your personal success formula, you need to identify your key ingredients—the habits, skills, and relationships—that keeps everything clicking.
Maybe it's your morning meditation or workout that sets the tone for a productive day, or perhaps it's the support from a coach that keeps you on track. Whatever it is, together these ingredients create a formula that works with you.
If you are going for GREATNESS, you’ll need to turn into a Flywheel Mad Scientist by constantly tweaking, reflecting, celebrating and refining your formula until you have the healthiest and most inspiring blend for success.
